Back to school in the UAE and Saudi Arabia

A family with two children routinely spends 2,000 to 4,000 AED before the first bell — uniforms, shoes that survive a year, stationery that gets lost by October, and increasingly a device the school requires.

We went through every live campaign and pulled the ones that apply to a school list in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. They are sorted below by what you are actually buying, with the cap and exclusion on each, because those are what decide whether a headline percentage is worth anything.

Read the school list before you buy anything

Two things waste more money than anything else at this time of year.

Branded uniform requirements. Only the crested items — blazer, tie, PE kit — must come from the school’s approved supplier. Shirts, trousers, skirts and socks are generic, and generic items are commodity goods priced very differently across retailers.

Device specifications. Schools specify minimum RAM, storage and operating system, not a brand. A device meeting the spec at half the price of the one in the school’s example photo is fully compliant.

Uniform and everyday school clothing

The pick for uniform basics: Marks & Spencer is the one offer here that explicitly covers new and discounted items. When back-to-school ranges are already promoted, that matters more than a higher percentage that excludes sale stock. The cap is AED 30 in the UAE, so it is reached at a 300 AED basket.

The pick for volume: Kiabi at 15% in the UAE, valid for new and existing customers. Its children’s range is the deepest part of the business. Full-price items only.

The one people miss: FALKE at 20% in Saudi Arabia. Socks appear on every school list and get replaced constantly. FALKE socks cost several times a supermarket multipack and last several times longer — anatomically knitted left and right feet, hand-linked toe seams.

Buy one size up on everything except shoes. Children grow through a school year. A shirt bought slightly large lasts three terms instead of one.

School shoes and PE kit

The pick for younger children: Kizik at 20% with no cap and no exclusions. The hands-free design means a child who cannot yet tie laces reliably gets themselves ready without help. It sounds like a novelty until you have watched the morning routine.

The pick for PE trainers: Sun & Sand Sports at 20% has better size availability than single-brand stores. The cap is AED/SAR 100, reached at a 500 basket — so kitting out two children in one order wastes part of it. Split into two orders and capture two caps.

The one to reuse: Metro Brazil is marked unlimited use. Over a school year of replacing outgrown shoes, a code you can apply every time beats a larger one-off.

Watch the GO Sport exclusions. GO Sport excludes Jordan Brand, allocated Nike footwear, equipment, accessories and sale items — which rules out most of what a teenager will ask for. It works on full-price apparel and non-allocated shoes.

Shoes are the exception to buying large. Badly fitting school shoes cause real foot problems. Fit these properly.

Bags, stationery and supplies

Buy consumables for the year, not the term. Pencils, erasers, glue sticks and exercise books are lost and replaced constantly. One large order with a single discount applied beats twelve small ones at full price.

The pick in Saudi Arabia: Beluar runs 12% sitewide with no cap, no exclusions and no new-customer restriction — the least restricted code available for a mixed stationery basket.

The pick in the UAE: noon with HF810 for consolidating everything in one basket. Note it is cashback — the cart total will not change, and 5% credits to your noon Wallet after the order confirms. The same code works on the Saudi storefront, but the wallets are separate.

One caution on the noon cap. HF810 is capped at roughly AED 10, which 5% reaches at a 200 basket. On a large consolidated stationery order the effective rate falls away — so if the basket is well over 200, place it as two or three orders instead.

Don’t overlook: Alokozay at 10% covers tissues and paper products, which appear on more school lists than parents expect, and where multipacks give the best unit pricing.

Devices and tech

The honest advice: if the device is not needed until the second term, wait. The real reductions land in late November with White Friday, which falls on 27 November 2026 — typically 20–40% on laptops and tablets against roughly 10% from a code. Note also that noon’s capped cashback is worth almost nothing on a device: on a 2,000 laptop, HF810 returns about 10, an effective 0.5%.

If you must buy now: Samsung KSA‘s mobile tier gives 5% with no cap, which suits a higher-value device better than a capped 10% would. Huawei gives 10% in both markets, but check the exclusions — flash sale items in the UAE, GT 6 series in Saudi Arabia.

Buy from the official regional store. Regional warranty and local support come with official purchase, not grey-market import. On a device that will live in a schoolbag and get dropped, that is worth more than a few percent.

Study space at home

A desk, a chair at the right height and a lamp make more difference to homework than any app. JYSK covers desks and storage in the UAE, and Dabube Home is unusual in applying its 5% to already-reduced items — worth using on clearance rather than full-price stock. Note that ACE excludes the assembly service from its discount, though the furniture itself qualifies.

Lunchboxes and the weekly food run

The Grandiose trick. Grandiose gives 30% off a first order capped at AED 25 — reached at roughly AED 83 of spend. So make your first order small, take the full 25, then keep using N48 at 10%, capped at AED 20, for the bigger weekly shops. Spending the first-order 30% on a 400 AED shop wastes most of it.

For the forgotten lunchbox item at 7am: NowNow. The percentage caps at AED 1, so treat this purely as a free-delivery offer — which on a small urgent basket is worth far more than any percentage.

Health before term starts

Term-start is when a household restocks the medicine cabinet — thermometers, plasters, children’s paracetamol — and when vitamin routines restart after summer.

The one worth planning around: Watsons is the only code in our entire set that can be used twice per customer. At 10% with a SAR 100 minimum, and with discounted items counting toward that minimum, planning the second order rather than forgetting it effectively doubles its value.

Vitamin D is the region’s most common deficiency, driven by limited sun exposure during school and working hours. iHerb carries the broadest range with climate-controlled warehousing — which matters here, because probiotics and oils degrade in Gulf heat regardless of the printed expiry.

Learning, reading and after-school

Getting there and school-year admin

Ontime is the branded-watch and accessories retailer — Emporio Armani, BOSS, Michael Kors, Fossil, Guess and more — and MM19 is one of the few Gulf codes that works in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait alike. Note the flat delivery fee on every order (AED 18 in the UAE, SAR 18 in the Kingdom): the 10% only beats delivery above roughly 180.

eZhire matters for the school run if you are between cars. Daily rentals earn the full 10%; monthly drops to 5%, and the AED 100 cap is fixed across all three tiers, so it binds soonest on a monthly hire.

What the codes are actually worth

Illustrative arithmetic on a two-child list. Your prices will differ — the point is how each cap behaves.

Two things this makes visible. Uncapped codes hold their rate — Kizik returns the full 20% no matter the basket size. Capped codes decay — Marks & Spencer’s headline 10% is really 5% once the AED 30 cap binds at 300, and noon’s 5% cashback is only worth the full 5% below a 200 basket.

The practical move: put large spending against uncapped codes, and keep baskets small where a cap binds early.
